Great point about the extension and contraction issues. When I was new to this business I installed a over-running clutch on a YM1510D and did not inspect the driveshaft for proper length. It was too long. It bottomed out and snapped the PTO shaft in the trans. That was a $150 lesson. You can run an over-running and a slip, but make sure you cut the driveshaft the proper length to give adequate insertion, yet make sure it can never bottom out.
