I have a B7800 and it handles my 5 foot John Deere medium duty rotary cutter just fine. I just got through brush hogging some overgrown briars, saplings, and vines a couple of days ago. The B7800 with FEL and the rotary cutter is a good combination for clean up work. I've never used a flail cutter, so I can't comment on them.

Now, if the B7800 just had position control!

Don't worry about the briars. It has been my experience that cutting briars is less taxing on the tractor than thick grass. I think you could easily use a 5' RC. I use a 5' Rhino with 26 hp (23 at the PTO I think) with no problems.

ditto that.. stemmy weeds are almost always easier to cut than long lush grass.

looking into purchasing a Bush Hog for a Kubota B7800 30 HP, need to cut over grown briar's and saplings up to 1" to 2" in size, and grass. Will 5' be to large ?
P.S. would a tooth bar help with removing the briar's

I have a 5' Land Pride RCR 1860 I use with my B7800. You can cut an occasional 2" sapling with it if you take it easy. An all day diet of 2" saplings would be hard on the B7800. The Land Pride mower is heavy enough to handle them.

Just wanted to sound in on the weight issue. I have an old massey 5' bush hog - HEAVY duty with thick plate and sides/chains. On Florida (read flat as a board) ground, my JD 2320 will spin it and do a good job - actually think the spinning mass helps get through the occasional spot where I don't have enough hp. But I would never hook that thing up to my tractor in the hilly, clay ground we have in Tennessee!
The Deere doesn't have enough weight (in my opinion), and I would be afraid the mower would take me for a ride!
My Tenn neighbor has an old Allis Chalmers with about my horsepower, but 2 - 3 times the weight of my tractor. He runs a 5' hog without much trouble and just slows down for the really bad sections he has to cut..
Most of the time, I use a 4' medium duty bh and am happy with that. Takes a little longer - but hey, just more seat time!!! And I am comfortable taking it over the ground we cut.
