Well the blades move freely, the stump jumper appears tight, and the mower still vibrates a lot. I can still use it, but it sure takes the fun out of seat time - vibrating like an old washing machine.

The next step I suppose is to take it off the tractor, turn it over and take it apart /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. As long as I'm not harming the tractor, I may let that wait til the fall cool weather. I bought it at Tractor Supply Co. so I don't know who would even do the repair if I took it in? And is KK worth spending the $ on?

Are the blades even.. or is one shorter? Remove the pto shaft from the tractor, and spin it by hand.. you should be able to feel irregularities.. Perhaps the pto shaft has a slight 'bow' to it?

I would find it.. high speed vibrations will wreck something..

I had a vibration in a rotary cutter and traced it to loose bolts holding the gearbox and everythig attached to the deck. I also developed a vibration when the bolt holding the universal joint to the cutter gear box got worn and ultimately sheared while cutting.

Itrain:

Welcome to TBN. Did you check the blades for large nicks and/or gouges that would cause the blades to become unbalanced weight wise? Another potential problem could be a bent crossbar. If the rotary cutter's vibration is as bad as you describe something is wrong. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Jay

ltrain,

Here a link to a previous thread concerning a vibration problem that I had with my KK rotary cutter. May be some useful information for you. I hope you get it resolved. Rotary Cutter Balance
