I am looking for a brush cutter to cut trees u to 6" to go on the front of my Bobcat CT230 tractor. I have rear remotes so it can be hydraulic.

At that HP level (22hp PTO), your only hope is a light duty forestry mulcher for trees of that diameter.

Even at that, your progress will be nearly (if not worse) than a chainsaw and renting a professional grade chipper.

The good news is, a used small (48") forestry mulcher will only run you around $1,500 to $2k... just make sure it's not a discontinued model that requires bits that are no longer available.

Some small models now have flat bits, instead of the old spike type for cased teeth found on most older small mulchers... which would be better for your application..... but they are newer and significantly pricey (around $6k).

6" trees are not a light duty job unless you are running heavy eqpt. For a 30hp that is a asking a LOT. I would not recommend using a front cutter on your machine for anything like that - when u raise it where is the discharge headed? Even a rear HD cutter on your machine is not going to work well for that size tree. You also need to see what your hydro flow is before even thinking of a mulcher as most the small tractors don't have a whole lot.

Mulchers are excellent at clearing land but I have never found any around here in that price range, mostly they are far more expensive. Heck, you can spend over 2K on just the teeth.....
