Brush hog choice

Hi,
Looking for opinions on a couple brushhogs. I looked at a couple new "weather worn" units on a couple dealers lots:
Standard Woods Brushbull 48" (shear pin) given a quote of $1,250.
Woods Heritage Classic 54" (shear pin) with a quote of $1,100.

I think I could make a cash deal for either one for a couple hundred less.

I plan on primarily running it with a Ferguson TO 20 (it has the newer 1-3/8" spline shaft and probably would get a ORC for it) or also I could run it with a Kubota B2920 TLB and leave the loader on. I like the construction of the Brushbull, but the 54" Heritage also sounds good being a little wider cut. Any opinions on size difference vs construction and pricing?

I remember when I was a kid the Ferguson running an old 5' single blade rotary cutter which is long gone and the tractor is last piece of equipment from farm my dad grew up on. It needs some work, but it can still putt along pretty well.

If they are weathered, that means they have been there 1 or 2 years. I would expect to pay about $400 less that he is asking. Ken Sweet

I don't know much about the difference in construction, but unless you need to cut heavier stuff, I would go with the wider cut. I have a 48" for my 2660 and don't use it much, but rather go with my 6' Land Pride. I have two Woods mowers and they are very good quality.

I would think with a TO-20 or the Kubota you should be able to run a 5ft mower with no trouble. Unless you just specifically want/need a 4ft mower? Either one of the two mentioned are decent quality, but I do believe the Heritage Series from Woods is their light duty line, but I could be wrong about that. Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for replys...kebo, you are correct, the Heritage is the Woods economy line, but I think they are better than some other light duty brands. Anyway, I guess that is what I was asking a little wider vs heavier construction and the pricing. I thought about five footer, but these two were weather worn ones I came across and pricing possibility was better...I think the 5' Woods Brushbull goes for quite a bit more brand new.
My guess is it's like equating a 48" mower deck to a 60" mower deck for lawns and the time saved mowing would be similar for brush cutting.
