Rotary Cutter Brush Hog for Kubota L3200

No problems with a 295 and L3200.

I used to run a 306 with a L3400, which is a foot bigger and 200# heavier cutter.

But I would question why the need for such a heavy cutter? IF you are blazing trails in virgin ground or doing commercial work, thats great. But if you are mowing your own pastures regularly, know whats there, and no big saplings......I'd say money would be better spent upsizing to a med-duty 6' cutter instead of a heavy 5.

If your new tractor does not have a Loader you may need front weights if mowing slopes.

My neighbor has a L3200 that he pulls a Mohawk 5 ft. cutter with. I used it many times, I would say it is a medium cutter and a good one. As it is used for pasture clipping, the tail wheel has been removed to allow it to get in the corners of the cow pens. That mower has taken a lot of abuse and is still in good shape. I ran it in low 3rd mostly and that is slooow on that tractor.

I agree. I can see the front end getting light with a heavy cutter like that.

Heck, my front end got light with a 600# brush hog on it. Steering would sometimes lose effectiveness until I got my loader. (I never bothered to buy front weights, since I knew I would be adding the loader, and it would likely never come off once installed.)

If you can lift it, you can spin it. If the mower is to wide to mow well, you just need to slow down. Going slow decreases the power demands. I'm a big fan of going wide & going slow, it's easier on you bouncing in the seat & probably on the tractor.

My former L3200 ran a 5' light Land Pride rotary fine. It also ran a 7' Ford 917 flail mower. Had to drop my speed a fair bit for that, but still covered the same acres per hour due to the extra width.

Mowing conditions vary. Thick lush grass where you get rain may take 10hp per foot. But here in dry Colorado light sparse grass & light brush takes less than 5hp per foot. But again, travel speed can affect those numbers a lot.

Wide and slow. Been preaching it for years.

Why I run a 8' twin with 42 PTO HO beging my mx5100

And really the only reason I don't run a lighter 10' twin mower is because I don't want to have a wide load permit to trailer the rig.

HST means I can go infinitely slow. 8' mower at 5 mph requires the same power and can mow the same acres per hour as a 10' mower at 4 mph. Difference is smoother ride

As noted earlier, there is more to the manufacturers weight limit for Brush hogs than just "can you lift it, and can you spin it?". The load is way out behind the 3 pt hitch arms. The puts a huge strain on your tractor's 3PH when in transport mode (i.e. with the brush mower all the way off the ground), if you are driving on a bumpy road. The shock load is much greater than the weight of the implement, and it's multiplied by the length of a very long lever.

Yep. I always figured the engineers that designed the product just might know a little more than I do. So when they recommend a certain spec to perform a task or run an implement, maybe I should listen.
