I've decided to go with a new KK. After looking at the used Woods (which was a shear pin) again, it looked a lot more beat up than I remember it. The guy wouldn't budge on the price. The TSC store I went to had sold out of the 4 ft. KKs and it would take a couple of weeks to order more in, but they told me a new store was opening up about half the distance from me. I'll be able to get the 10% grand opening discount for waiting one more week. By then I'll really be putting the brush hog and my tractor to the test. The four days rain/one day sun we've been having has been making my field grow wild.

Thanks again for all the responses!

Fred

Check out a Dale phillips brand...they are strong and heavy at a good price. I have a 6' and live in real rocky country and have to cut alot of mesquites and cedars along with the grass. I hit quite a few rocks along the way.

Hey BB TX,
Where do I find the Howse 5' cutters for $399? I could use one, and I am located just a little south of you.

I'm embarassed to say this, but I put up a post a while back talking about how my B7300 handles a Rhino 60" brush hog just fine. I was wrong - it is a 48" cutter, and so my comments were correct, except for the size. The gist was that it works just fine, but don't go larger.

And the reason I said it was that I went to the web site and was looking at the model numbers. Mine is pretty beat up, and the decals are tough to read, but I'd decided it was an SE5. Wrong - its an SE4, which I discovered last night when I was looking for the manual for my loader and ran across the manual for my 'hog.

So my bad /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif. I hope no one relied on my mistake.

But - 48", max, on that tractor...Chris

There is a place called Paysinger Tractor about 4 miles east of McKinney on Hwy 380, north side. He is mostly a tractor salvage yard but recently started advertising Howse equipment. Never dealt with him personally but he has been in business many many years.

I would not want a 60 inch on a 7500HST. I would buy the used one if I were you.
