Brush Hog Wheel (Need Pics)

I bought a brush hog with the wheel portion detached on a separate piece of iron (A-shaped from brush hog to point at wheel). There is only one hole at the end of each side of the wheel portion to bolt to the brush hog. It seems that if I was to only use this one hole that the wheel portion could easily move with the weight of the brush hog.

Any advise on how to keep the wheel from moving. Pics of how the wheel attaches to the hog would be great.

Neither your post nor profile identify the make and model of brush hog you own. To get good advice requires giving good information. What you describe does not match my Woods brush hog, but if you give enough info, someone should be able to help you.

It's a Ford "Special" 5-foot brush hog. Don't remember the exact model #. But I believe it's 251 or 521. I can go out and check the model # tomorrow.

A-framed rear wheels generally use three anchor points. Where the bottom of the A-frame legs bolt to the mower body is #1 and #2. Sounds like you may be missing #3 in the center, which also doubles as a rear height adjuster.

Take a look at the attached photo, and locate the horizontal brace that connects the diagonal legs of the A-frame. There's a bolt hole in the center.

Next, look dead in the center of the photo, and you'll see a vertical bar. It has several holes in it, you can see a silver bolt head in one of them. The vertical bar is a rear wheel height adjustment AND the #3 anchor point.

My guess is that you're missing that vertical bar and it's associated nuts/bolts/washers.

My rotory cutter is a Land Pride, but here is a link to the Operator's Manual and you can see how the tailwheel attaches. There is one bolt on each side of the A-frame and then a support bracket that attaches at the back of the deck and is used to adjust tailwheel height.

You're right. Looks like I'm missing the vertical bar and it's associated nuts/bolts/washers. Does anyone know of a kit available with those parts?

The main think I'm worried about is finding the right size of metal as I have no means to cut metal that thick.

The local NewHolland dealer? After that, ask around to see if there are any "tractor boneyards" within reasonable driving distance. After that, I'd go up the road to that machine shop and have one made.
