If you got the stump jumper off with the blades attached that's 99.9% of the battle. The blades are supposed to be loose. So they can swing when the hit an immovable object. If the nut and bolt is rounded off the easiest to get them off is with a thin cut off wheel on a grinder. The replacement bolts and nuts are not that expensive.

Congratulations getting that stump jumper off. While it is off add lock tight to the mounting bolts for the gear box. Mine became loose after 3 years of light use and I fought for a week trying to get the stump jumper off to tighten them. Never did get it off and torched a hole in the stump jumper to tighten the bolts. Sounds like your blades are as they are suppose to be. You do want them to swing freely. You can hit them with a angle grinder while they are mounted if you want to sharpen them some.

I am curious how you removed your stump jumper?

Typical stump jumper is splined to the gearbox output shaft and secure in place with a castellated nut and cotterpin. I lucked out on the two I have, both nuts came off really easily - despite being 25ish years old and never removed before.

If I remember correctly the shaft and and the hole in the stump jumper are a tapered fit. I have taken stump jumpers off a few times. It was always a mean job when I did it. I had a brush hog once that didn't have an access hole in the top so that one could get a socket on the blade nut. I always had to remove the stump jumper to remove the blades. I grew weary of this and had someone cut me hole with a cutting torch.
