John,
Now you're really on to something! With that thing I could only mow my yard once every 5 years. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I dont understand how you can drive a cutter over a 6" tree.

Clearly, Glenn, you are ignorant of the ways of us experienced tractor guys.

All you do is hook up your cutter to the 3-pt and PTO, set it fairly high, and then approach the target trees slowly -- low range, first gear. Then you... uhhhhh.... ummmmm..... ???

I dont understand how you can drive a cutter over a 6" tree, either!!! /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Not entirely sure how you handle even 1" or 2" trees, for that matter. I am dying to hear the answer to this one myself! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Look at the rear(where the singletire is), the hinged doors open and you back into the tree and the blades cut it off. It is hard to believe but that is how it was explained to me. I bet it will make your BX howl.

Notice the rear of the unit... with 2 hydraulic top/cover sections...

You back the unit up and Whack...whack...whack...... like a rapid axe! Also you need a minimum of a 90 PTO HP tractor to drive this baby and 2500 lbs. of brush hog coming at ya... would make those trees... roots and all... kinda jump out of your way .../w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

If you placed this unit next to the JD X13 series...they would start crying...

This thing has to be seen in person to be appreciated...a massive 1 inch thick stump jumper rotating with 4 swinging blades... an absolute monster!

John,

I still have problem in picturing this bad boy in action!

First, if the tree is stand at any kind of height, don't you risking yourself from potential falling of the tree? Second, I can see the power of this machine when using as a stump grinder (for the root), but if you try to ram trough an already cut down tree trunk then, it seems you would have to "line-up" this bad boy with the tree at same direction. In final analysis, I think this machine is really a "backward driven" stump grinder? /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

They have an optional guard that mounts on the back to help prevent a tree from landing on top of you.

No, I wouldn't use this as a stump grinder...

The rear doors/chutes open up and "wrap" around the trees if you "back" into them.

Most 90 + PTO HP ag tractors should be approaching 5 ton or more and also you'll have a hefty loader mounted to push this stuff down going forward.

They also offer a 5' version of this for use on a 50 PTO HP unit, I may consider, but it won't cover my tracks /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I'll try to post some pictures from the literature that may explain things better...

I had always thought of the "Brown Tree Cutter" as the only way... after seeing both units... the Brown looks very crude compared to the Rhino. This Rhino is extremely beefed up...
