Brush Mulching: Anyone heard any good rumors about new equpment coming out?

I had heard that fecon is starting to make knives. That is awesome to have that option. Do you know where there might be photos of the new tools? I am glad to here that mulching is good for you. I will be contacting you soon to exchange some ideas and info.

Fecon makes the knives that I am getting. I saw a couple at my dealer last time I was up there and told him to order me some. He is going to the factory next week and supposed to pick them up and deliver them to me on Thursday. Will get back as soon as I can, after I run them for a few hours.

I believe the new bobcat forestry mower is the new fecon with spiral tooth pattern.
I am running a CAT mulcher head and it only has 28 teeth over 48". The fecon is 60" with 30 teeth I believe.

Cbturf after you get your new knives and have put some time on them let me know how they worked goods and bads. My direct competitors are running gyrotracs so to have carbide and the knife option would be fantastic. Keep up the strong work.

if this is a fecon they made some MAJOR changes to the drum. Guess that is why we are in the rumor thread...makes sense that fecon would go to spiral that is where the best performance seems to be.

I spoke with someone at Fecon today about their Bull Hog mulching heads and they told me again that they are going to be making a carbide head for ASV that will have 46 carbide tools with the spiral mounting pattern.

He did say that the spiral mounting pattern does have a weakness in that you can break off an entire carbide tool mount from the drum, where as their regular mounting design does not have that weakness.

I'm sure that ASV and Fecon will consider that and plan accordingly. I think that most agree that the RC100 is the best compact machine for the price in the mulching environment and ASV is probably looking to improve that performance.

Someone at ASV told me the other day that they haven't seen an actual 125 HP machine yet and that he doesn't think they'll be out till next year sometime.
