The Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manual included with your boiler will tell you which kids of faults cause a "lock-out". When the control board senses one of these coditions it will lock-out the boiler out to let you know that something that requires attention is happening. My guess would be that the new control board wil do the same thing.
The conditions listed in the IOM that can cause a lock should be investigated to determine which one is causing the problem.
That was a second question of mine for the furnace guy to ask. According to my installer factory tech suggested control board would do the trick. It was under warranty. So far it is still working with two weeks of service. Another couple weeks and I would guess I have a good chance of being OK.
