The Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manual included with your boiler will tell you which kids of faults cause a "lock-out". When the control board senses one of these coditions it will lock-out the boiler out to let you know that something that requires attention is happening. My guess would be that the new control board wil do the same thing.

The conditions listed in the IOM that can cause a lock should be investigated to determine which one is causing the problem.

That was a second question of mine for the furnace guy to ask. According to my installer factory tech suggested control board would do the trick. It was under warranty. So far it is still working with two weeks of service. Another couple weeks and I would guess I have a good chance of being OK.

Usually the answers won't hold water. About 1% of the time it actually is the control board. The other 99% of the time it's not.

I also work with video game boards. What you say makes sense. However, in my business if any intermittent problems come up we replace power supply; sort of like a giant fuse. Even if power voltage is right sometime they will cause problems; if supply is a few yrs old. A blanket statement works here. A $50 supply beats a round trip of 50 miles in a return visit and many times it's what does the trick. But, I hear you loud and clear and I am waiting. Every day that goes by is another day indicating things might be ok.

Reviewing post I have concluded that mfgr wouldn't replace control free of charge unless they were pretty sure it's what's needed. There might have been a recall but I have not heard anything. (Like they would tell me)

Here's one for the books; The heating guy came to house 2 times in couple weeks. There was about 5 earlier calls spaced through year; getting shorter between as time went on. His service guy claimed there was nothing wrong. He shut the power down and turned back on. Boiler unit worked. I already explained this is how I was able to get heat. I wound up using my electric back up heat. He charged me for 2 calls and mentioned on both bills; nothing wrong. Unit just needed reset. The 5 calls before that were also charged for. He only got to problem after my call to Bryant company consumer relations. I'm surprised he hasn't figured a way to charge me for warrenty.

Anyway, it's cold here in Pa. and the furnace hasn't missed a beat yet. I'm happy and comfortable the last 2-3 weeks. Gee, when do I switch my air on??
