Re: TresCrows

TresCrows,

I do realize the importance deer hunting has in controlling their population and I am not against it. As someone who has never been interested in hunting, I have little real knowledge of it, other than theory. I had never heard of an "antler trap" before, but now I know its not some nasty device to trap deer /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif We had a nice seven foot white pine tree ruined by a deer a couple weeks ago, so I'm not real fond of bambi right now myself. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Too many deer. I hate driving this time of year and running the gauntlet in the early evening.
About a weekago big doe ran right in front of me in town near the high school, 8:45 pm. Hit her in the rump. She ran off, but left a little hide and $1600 damage to my car.

I, or someone driving one of my vehicles, have hit, or more accurately, been run into by deer or a herd of deer over the past few years. The damage has ranged from a hairs in some trim (1974 MGB), to front end damage (1994 Geo Prizm), to side cab/door damage (1991 Chevy K1500) to busted front end, hood and a deer hoof through the windshield (1987 Chevy S10). I am ready to mount a cow catcher on all my current vehicles! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

I did what I could here in Michigan by whacking 4 of 'em (used all my tags and the freezer's full). 2 of my neighbors got 5 between them. Unfortunately, the DNR estimates only 283,000 deer were taken, which is 18 percent less than last year. There are still far too many deer running around. The insurance companies should put the heat on the DNR to extend the firearm seasons, in an effort to control the population.

The only one I got this year was with the bumper of my F350.Wisconsin's deer kill was down roughly 25% this year. Weather was terrible during opening weekend of gun season which usually acounts for 70-80% of the normal kill. Marty
