I built this bucket hitch today so I could shuttle my trailers around without having to hook it to a bumper. The ball is level with the bucket rolled back and about a foot off the ground.Added a lift ring for whatever needs a lift.
Great idea and should work real well, wish I would have thought of that. I drilled a hole in my cutting edge and just put a ball in it, that works to, but I can't tell you how many trailer lights wiring I have cut off on the edge of the bucket
I also made up a similar rig for my friend.
My unit used 2ea 5" X 8" X 1/4" flats for top and bottom with a 3/4 X 3/4 to spread the plates apart, all welded up to form a rugged 'U' that gets slipped over the bucket edge.
A standard hitch is welded to that leaving the ball about 5-6" ahead of the cutting edge.
My hold down clamp is a 5/8" machine bolt, slightly tapered end' with a T grip that grips the bucket.
In his case he needs to move lots of trailers as he runs a storage facility.
