I use a sheet of very thin brass shim-stock. I would be concerned about the cellophane tearing and getting some inside the cylinder. Lube the O-rings with hydraulic oil as well.

I have used the material from a coke can for a cyl guide. Very thin Aluminum. Cut the can into a flat sheet and wrap around the piston and slide it in the bore. Hold on to the Aluminum as you slide the lubed cyl in. Remove it and save it for the next time.

thanks fellows. I got some .003, .004, and .005 Precision brand shim stock. I wasn't going to put the wrap inside the cylinder only on the gland to put o ring on before reinstalling the rod. The shim stock will work much better and can use it the way you mentioned in your replies.

So i just got the cylinder repacked for the second time from the dealer and for the second time i hooked they hydraulic lines up to it and again it was leaking from the lock ring hole and the cylinder shaft didn't move.

so tomorrow i will go back the dealer and see what they have to say. they did the second repack free of charge but I'm a little worried that they don't know what they are doing or that there is something else wrong with the cylinder that they are missing.

it takes me an hour to get to the dealer so any ideas anyone has on what might be wrong with my cylinder would be appreciated so that i can clear this up without too many more trips to the dealer.
