On this forum, we have talked about gages quite extensively. It is the best indicator of how things are going on with the hydraulic system. This liquid filled gage, has liquid in it to provide dampening for the needle indicator. It can be an external test gage comprised of a gage, short or long hose, and a fitting to connect into the hydraulic lines. It is most often used to set relief pressures. It can be installed as a permanent installation, facing the operator to let him know how things are working. It is a most useful trouble shooting tool. Every hydraulic system should have one.
You could install test fittings using a male QD at certain areas, and a female QD on the gage to just plug in and test. It is a good thing, and the cost is minimal.
