Bucket Cyls not holding when off

Yes, it is a GC2310. Ok, I let it warm up and moved the bucket up and down about 10 times at different speeds with nothing in the bucket. I noticed a thin ring of oil at the end of the rod of the cylinder that had the leak and was just rebuilt. I did it another 10 times and there was a distinct ring. Nothing on the other cylinder rod, so, I guess the repacking of it didn't fix the leak. According to the dealer,MF requires 1 rebuild before they replace a cylinder. So it seems the cylinder should go back to the dealer. Would there be a connection between this and the drift or are they different issues?

JB: Let me get some more detail on this approach...
I top off resevoir.
I extend the bucket cyls fully.
Turn off tractor.
Detatch the lower hose on one side and put in milk jug.
Turn on tractor.
Try to extend further (won't be able to of course).
See if fluid came out of hose.

...is this correct?

?

Almost correct. Take off one hose from each cylinder. You will be looking for fluid from the cylinders open port. You are applying 2500 psi on the other side of the seal and it will leak across the seal and out the port.

Take it to the dealer and tell them of the problem and then walk away . Come back when they ring you and fill out the check with the two hands you still have from not loosing them in a dropping loader arm whilst checking .

They are different issues. The seal leaking externally is the rod seal. The seal leaking internally that would make it drift is the piston seal. *A bad rod seal will make for cylinder drift also, but if you see fluid coming out, it's pretty obvious.*

My opinion, if they couldn't put in a rod seal correctly, which is easy, they would have a real hard time getting a piston seal in that wouldn't leak which is usually harder to install than a rod seal.
