bucket drops

Talked to a guy tonight that said he had a jd that he had someone service and after he got it back the bucket will drop if he leaves it up, and it never did it before this. He said that the 3-point will stay up though. Any ideaswhat might be doing this?

I've had 3 Deere CUTs. They all dropped over the span of several hours and, apparently, there is a specification for this (how quickly they can drop before repair is necessary).
He just may always have done what good tractors owners should do...lower the FEL after shutdown...and just never noticed the drop before.

More that likely, leaking bucket cylinders are the culprit. Roy is right, most loaders have leak specs that are allowed. If you are outside those specs, repacking the cylinders would probably solve your problem. The only other idea, would be the hydraulic valve that feeds the bucket function. If it leaks down overnight, or in a few hours, I wouldn't worry too much about it yet.

I was told by my JD dealer that 7" per hour in the specification. My 40+ year old 2010 will sit for weeks and not drop a bit. There are times that it is handy to have the bucket up and working out of it...picking apples into baskets for an example.
