I have a rebuilt JD 301A tractor. After about 20 hrs the bucket started to drop while in use - fast enough that I have to keep raising it while moving around. I sent the loader valve to the person who rebuilt it and he repacked it and said it looked great. When I reinstalled it, no luck. As far as I can tell, it's just the bucket not the loader arms that drift. What should I look into next? Thanks

Unless you can confirm that the bucket cylinders were rebuilt during the rest of the rebuild, in your shoes I'd go ahead and bring them up to speed with the rest of the machine and have them rebuilt as well. If they WERE recently rebuilt and are leaking anyway, you've got a warranty claim.

By drifting I presume you mean the bucket is dumping / cylinders are extending. If yes then bigdeano has the correct answer.

Yes, bucket cylinders.

There is almost nothing to rebuild or repack in a valve.

The valve will have a few o-rings or quad rings that seal the spool to the casing to prevent oil leaks on the floor, but there are no seals internal that seal the passages. It's all metal on metal. And if the valve were indeed causing your drift, there would be nothing to rebuild in the valve.
