I need some bucket forks, but the ones I want require 3 big hooks to be welded on the top of the bucket. The forks each are "L" shaped with a piece coming down across the front of the bucket from a horizonal bar attached to the 3 hooks, then down below the front lip of the bucket they turn 90 degrees out from the bucket.

I understand you can put these on and take them off without leaving the seat of the tractor. Thats why I'd like to have this kind.

I have found some that have a couple of tons of payload, but my B 2710 only has a capacity of 900 some odd pounds on the FEL, so slightly over that should be all I need. The heavy duty ones are around $1,000, and I sure as heck don't want to pay near that for them.

I see some on Gearmore's website that have 1000# capacity, stick out 32" I think, but they don't post a price.

Does anyone have some of these, or know what the price is?

Alan,

Let me suggest you do a search for "forks" or look at my posts and check the one "...show me your forks now let me show you mine"
There are several threads already here re: forks.
I'll be happy to answer any questions you have about my forks.
They are working great. Haul a BIG pile of limbs, dig up small bushes, break limbs off trees/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif, skin up side of shop/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif, any number of things.

Alan,
Here is a picture of the Gearmore 2500lb model (one size up from what you are looking for). They are well build. They attach and detach in seconds without leaving the seat. They work great. The only downside is when you try to dump the load, the forks swing out away from the bucket. I mostly use mine on palletized materials and they work great. I think the cost was $300 with the hooks welded on the bucket.

Thanks RMulkey, those are the ones. I hate to hear they swing out from the bucket though. That might make it hard to dump stuff out of them. I wonder if they could be secured at the bottome somehow to keep that from happening.

From the tractor seat, how do you see the tips of the forks to line them up with the notches in a pallet?

Mine hook on in place of the bucket, and even then they are sometimes hard to see from the tractor seat.

Thanks for those links Bubenberg. I had seen the Arrow Parts site and never could find any prices on there. The clamp on forks would seem to be OK, but those Gearmore L shaped ones seem much easier to put on and take off. I might have to consider the clamp-on, because the ones I had wanted apparently aren't rigid against the bucket. As for the forks that mount with the chains - anyone who has messed with those chain binders know what a ***** they can be. I really don't want to have to mess with putting those on.

Those with the the ones I'm talking about - that mount using the 3 weld on hooks - are they hard to dump, or does gravity take care of the problem?

You can defenitely secure the fork to stop them from swinging when dumping, use a long chain w/a binder and go around the forks and the back of the bucket and tighten down w/the binder, just make sure you don't run the chain through any of the linkage for the bucket or it may get pinched or restrict the rotation of the bucket.

your assessment is correct ...gravity does it's thing
