Hi all,

I recently changed five bad hoses on our '74 White 1370. The tractor has been around the block of few times. I drained the fluid, changed the filter, replaced some hoses. Now the bucket stutters on the way up every time. This has been going on for a week now even after frequent use. It also seems to have loss some holding capacity meaning the bucket lowers slowly when there's weight in it.

I read online that I should have cleaned the sump filter but I couldn't find it. I'm new to hydraulics but I've been wrenching for years. Can you help a farmer out?

Thanks!

Lets start with how many hoses are on your loader valve. 6 or 7

I suspect you have a hose in the wrong place which is common when someone is replacing hoses and not doing it one at a time.

There are four hoses coming from the valve and there's no way I placed the hoses in the wrong place since I labelled everything. One of the four cylinders was leaking this morning so we brought in for repair. This might be the source of the stuttering. I will update once all four cylinders have been checked out and repaired where needed.

Thanks!

UPDATE:

All four cylinders needed new rods and some odds and ends. It was an expensive repair. We're about to put them back on the tractor.

BUT...

I forgot to label everything! There are four quick connects and each cylinder gets two hoses. Any tips on reinstalling these cylinders without having labelled anything? Is there any harm in trial and error?

It's a KMW K 120 loader on a white 1370 tractor. TIA

Start by installing the lift arm cylinders and get them working properly.

Don't install all 4 cylinders to start with as it will just complicate matters.

The quick connects for a pair of cylinders will be in line with the valve control handle(s) not side by side.

Make certain the action of the joystick or levers are proper. I know of a guy who tried driving his tractor when the loader valve action was opposite to what it should have been.

Pull back for up and push forward for down. The end result was he rolled a large bale off the loader and unto him. He suffocated under the bale.

When you say bucket up, do you mean loader up?

Do you mean hydraulic fittings when you say quick connects?

Each end forward and back port of the lift cylinders get plumbed together. Then, same with the bucket cylinders.

Not much harm in trial and error, except unecessary mess.

I bet, air was getting into your cylinders and it will be good now. Having said that, having had basically the same tractor, I developed a hydraulic suction leak that I never managed to fix and traded the tractor in.
