Buffalo grass

BB, I bought buffalo grass seed at Tractor Supply yesterday. It was about $15 for a 1 pound bag.
It is Texoka Buffalo Grass. The seeding rate for new lawns is 4 pounds per 1000 sq. ft.. This bag will be my first experience with Buffalo Grass and I will try it on a sand and partial shade yard.

My bermuda suffer badly during last year's drought. Maybe you got a little more rain that way. I tried to keep it watered and green but without a sprinkler system I did not have much luck. Many areas just died and it is slow coming back this year.
Not sure what variety mine is. I know there are at least two as some was from seed and a little from sod. Planted it 23 yrs ago when we built the house. Last year was the first year it ever suffered like that. The native bermuda on my other land survived pretty well.

No I didn't get anymore rain than you did, My place has the native bermuda since this was undeveloped which is what I was saying that did good and the stuff I have seeded didn't fair as well.

I didn't even think about Tractor Supply. I did finally find some at a farm feed and seed store for $19/lb. It was Top Gun variety. I think Texoka is the recommended type around here. I put it out yesterday and will try it.

I live in Fairview very close to New Hope. I have a hybrid Buffalo grass in my front yard which requires mowing about 3 times a season. It was difficult to seed and the seed was expensive, but it is beginning to look very good. Most of it was planted last spring and I still have a few areas to plant this spring. It does require watering to get it established, but then it's fairly maintance free.
