Here's the recipe:

1. Two bored 13 year-old boys
2. One Ford Explorer, keys in ignition
3. One executive jet hangar in Buffalo

Mix two boys with Explorer for a few minutes of joyriding around the hangar's ramp. Crash Explorer into hangar door and into hangar. Thoroughly trash one Falcon 900EX wing and become pinned in the Explorer, requiring the fire department to have to cut you out. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Serve with a large garnish of grief for parents, aircraft owners, and insurance company. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Who thinks they have enough liability insurance? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I wasn't there. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif The neat thing about being in the aviation training business is that folks send you pictures of things you don't see anywhere else. That's how I got these pictures and the background story. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i live 20 miles south of buffalo NY and have not seen that in the paper, when did this happen? OF COURSE the airplane owners are at fault! they should have known that it was possible for a couple of teenagers to crash a car into the hanger and run into their planes! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Frank, I'll have to check the original message to see when it was sent and the date on the photo files. I'll check next week when I go back to work. I'm on vacation now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Firestone tires on the Explorer?

And they messed up a good Ford truck to boot. From the look of it, it will be but a memory (painfull).

I hate it when that happens.

Hope the kids are OK. And when they get over what ever this caused, I wonder if the parents punishment will hurt worse?

If thats the jet I heard about on the news, it belongs to one of the big wine makers here in the finger lakes. The $$ amount I heard on the news was $1 million in damage!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Wait till the parents get that bill /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Nah.... nothing will happen to the kids. The owner of the Ford will take the heat. He/She is the one that left the keys in the ignition switch. It might even turn out to be one of the owners of the damaged planes that owns the car, so it will be a double whammy for that person. The lawyers will have fun pointing the finger of blame at every one else, except for the negligent party. The parents of the children that didn't exercise enough parental control to teach these kids the difference between right and wrong.

Ouch..... that was a recipe for disaster. Sounds like the boys didn't have enough respect for what wasn't theirs.

Von, I checked the N-number of the Falcon 50 because it has the same paint scheme and probably belongs to to the same owners. The owner is Seneca Foods/Canandaigua Brands in Penn Yan, NY.

Having gone so far as to identify the owner, I should also say that the info I got passed to me is just hearsay. I have no actual official knowledge of this incident nor how it came about. I only have a single story in an email and these photos.

I posted this because it just goes to show what a few moments of inattention can lead to. I've operated scissor lifts several times in close proximity to someone else's airplanes during photo shoots, and I'm always afraid of making a mistake and running into a wing or fuselage. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
