New holland boomer 3050
Hi from a newbie :dance1:

Sadly my entry into tractor ownership as of last week has not been a good one

I live in france and after 10 years converting an old farm and making do with machinery, we finally got to own our first real tractor (Well, a compact :))

Couldnt fine anything appropriate here in france, just overpriced junk so we ended up importing an NH 3050 from uk, assured by the reputable dealer (checked this out independently) that everything was as it should be, low hours and mint condition (walk around video done) which seemed to cover his story.

I checked out the tractors reputation online, looked at reviews which it scored favourably in on both counts, the odd software story But there was a fair few of these sold so thought these stories were minimal in comparison tbh, nothing horrific being reported.

Bought, 6 mth warranty attached & Tractor arrived from uk 2 days later but straight away something wasnt right, imo it struggled to move forward, i put it down to me being a newbie operator so had lunch and a read up to learn settings and went back out..

Nope, something definitely not right, forward engages but if its put under any load it starts to loose momentum but not engine speed, ie it feels like something is slipping, a clutch of some kind (not sure how these transmissions operate inside) any incline in high or low gear ratio, fast or slow response, results in the same thing, engine revs stay high and forward motion slowly diminishes until non existant, this gets worse as machine gets hotter, ie it gets weaker.

Odd thing? Reverse is absolutely fine, response button works, high/low button works, 4wd/2wd button works, cruise also works as it should.

Any ideas?

I have made plans for NH to come and collect the tractor next week to take to their workshops and asses but was hoping someone on here might have had the same problem or similar and be able to point me in some direction, is there a main clutch + additional forward and reverse clutches of some sort?

Another thing i discovered was the machine had been over filled with transmission fluid, allot! Which i have now drined off so that it is correct ion the dipstick, could this have contaminated one of the clutches? Why on earth would a dealer send out a machine with it over filled?

Dealer says the machine was working fine when it left, he壇 been using it personally to tow things in his yard and it it performed really well, he is truly baffled by the problem as is his mechanics, i know, he could well be lying through his back teeth but he doesnt sound it tbh, though when tractoe arrived on trailer, it had been loaded in reverse which makes me suspicious to..

I duno, i need to move forward and fix it or return this within 30 days for my money back (my legal right) but if i have him down wrong and hes not reputable, i could loose the tractor and my money and have a nasty overseas battle to get my money back.

The machine is otherwise incredibly clean and in good condition for a 2014 with 2000hrs, well looked after (phoned previous service centre who said it had been fautless in their 4 years of servicing it) its a real shame as its operation i really like, ac cab, all the controls work well and are easy to understand, engine is fantastic (cut the whole field in reverse) thats another reason i dont want to send it back and try and solve the problem..

So, any suggestions? Anyone? really hoping so :confused3:

This may sound incredibly stupid but is the brake set? My Kubota tractor is really sluggish and low on power if I forget to release the brake - just a thought.

Thanks roadworthy, no, its not sluggish, its something slipping, reverse works fine, if handbrake is left on it squeals like a pig :D

Welcome to TBN. Nice to see another European over here.

What transmission does it have? The standard shuttle shift transmission or the the more complex EasyDrive CVT one? Or HST?

If it was the CVT, whoever overfilled the transmission with oil, may very well put the wrong oil on it, which can cause some issues like you're experience. Asides from the Chain and pulleys, there is also two clutch packs, one forward and one for reverse. Wrong oil can seriously damage these.

Thanks ptsg

Its a 2014 series 2 cvt easydrive but without the 1-2-3 gear selector which i think the early series 2s omitted? It just has the high / low range switch.

Its reassuring to think it could be a simple clutch for forward gear, i guess replacing both whilst in there would be a good idea if it is the clutch, id have thought the wrong oil would have damaged the reverse clutch also, where as if its just 双verfill it could have effected just one of them depending on there location.

Though today i realised that the oil should be measured with all rams fully extended, doh! Dont have to do that on my 3cx.. so might not have been overfilled at all as i just measure again and now its below the min level with rams extended.

The dealer was towing heavy loads with it before he sold it to me and he said it performed really well, im thinking maybe he overstrained the clutch just before stopping and selling it..

He痴 happy to pay for any repairs under warranty (not possible to get it back to him) so thinking i値l go this route rather than just return it, despite everyone (localy) saying to me theyre not very good and send it back, i quite like the way it behaves (in reverse) cut a whole field in reverse and it behaved really well.

Are they known to be that bad? Should i just send it back? apart from this fault its absolutely immaculate with good service history.

you can try to recalibrate the CVT tranny. see what that gives...

Oh, something else I remember... if you have an intermittent forward and reverse works great, there is a wire harness chaffing underneath of the cab and one has to lift the cab off the tractor to get at it.
