/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif $$$$$$$$$ ALERT!!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
I was pre-warned that 1" I.D. X 1.5" O.D. tubing was expensive...... This is to confirm that it is.
5.5', that's 66" @ $29.00 per foot equals $180.00+ after tax!!
I found it locally and bit the bullet and bought it. Will measure twice and then measure again before cutting. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Another thing to note. I took my 1" grade 8 bolt with me and found that it fit in some pieces of the tubing and not the others. The counter guy said the tubing has a manufacturing +- tollerance of .015". The one that they brought to the counter was -.005 and that was too tight for the bolt. They found one that was exactly 1" and it was snug but not tight. That's the one I took. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif He said if I have to order any more, they cannot guarantee that it will be the same size, so that's why I took the piece I did. I won't need that much, but figured if I mess something up, it could be a pain to find more locally less than 5' long.
So far my buget is right around $200.00 with the new tubing and the L brackets for the boom assembly from the junkyard. Also have a couple bucks in a bolt. Not too bad so far. The biggest expense will be the hydraulic valves and hoses.
I'm going to use those cylinders that I have at first. If they prove too weak, I can always get larger ones. I figure I might as well try it. The worst that can happen is that I'll have to torch off one mount for each one and re-weld in the proper location if I have to replace the cylinders with fatter, but shorter ones. Frugality rules for now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
