My machine is a NH L190. it weighs a little less than 8000lb, produces 80 gross HP and is low flow only. I do have a cab that is air conditioned however it is not pressurized as the newer ones are. Still it does cut down on the dust and dirt in the cab.
I also have used two rental machines at various times, a Rhino and a Brushcat. Of the two, I liked the Brushcat the best. The Rhino cut well, but I didn't like the gauge wheel sticking out in front of the shredder like that. Both are heavy machines and yes, they will beat you up.
I am considering the 9.59 cu in PTO Drive Motor BMSY160E2SLS sold on the Surplus Center site. This has a splined output shaft that should be easy to connect to my gearbox. It appears to be made specifically to drive a load that was meant to be driven by a 540 tractor PTO. If my calculations are correct, I should be getting about 35-40 HP out of my aux hydraulic system. This should be sufficient to drive a 5' or 6' shredder. I will talk to Surplus Center tech support about it Monday as they have several of these motors to choose from.
