Build your own grinder plans

If you like the clothes dryer one, you might like this one too. I machined an aluminum wheel to take the place of a stone on a bench grinder, and added the rest of the sander to a plate the grinder bolts to. And recycled another roller skate wheel.

I saw plans some time back (I used to build bows, as in recurve and longbow) that a guy made from wood. In some woodworking book. Anyway, the "wheels" were nothing more than MDF (I think) circles that were glued together, with a centered hole all the way through for the shaft, with larger holes on the outside with bearings pressed in them.

This was a horizontal sander. One "wheel" was cut with a crown to facilitate belt centering and adjustment.
