Yep , the lift post would be next to you the wall. The bike would load onto the lift table with the front tire close to the lift post.

Hope that helps you with the concept..
Both sides of the bike would be accessible.

The company I used to work for just sold 25 of these used for $250 each.
It's an electric lift pallet jack rated for 3300# skids. I highly recommend them if you can find a used one. Very useful device. Had I known they were selling them, I'd have bought one.

So you'd. nose the bike up to the post, then lift up. Sounds like plenty of room.

Bruce,
Thanks for posting that.

Hadn't seen one of those before. Nice idea. Unfortunately, not in my budget. Too many other things are pulling on my mad money funds. This is going to be a low dollar (read as cheap) build.

OK, let me throw one other option at you all. My shop is equipped with a two post Bendix lift. I have toyed with the idea of trying to come up with a lift table utilizing just one side of it for motorcycles. The reason I have not followed through with that idea is, I can't figure out a way to have access to both sides of the bike. Obviously, since I already have the lift, building a contraption or device that just fits into the lift arms would be much cheaper.

My last motorcycle lift was a HF motorcycle lift table with air over hydraulics. Was pretty slick but, it simply took up too much floor space and ended up being either in the way a lot or with all kinds of crap laying on it that never got put up. Yeah, I know that's my fault but, I don't need a storage table. And, I can't afford to lose floor space. The HF lift took up too much space and was just too darn heavy to be moving around all the time. Nor could I just pick up one end and stand it up against the wall.

My Valkyrie doesn't take much maintenance it does require that drive line to be service every 10K miles or so. Other than that and oil changes, it just keeps rolling along. But, back to the two post lift idea, any suggestions?

Perhaps with the pads on all 4 arms, or with the arms slid out further to make access to the backside easier?

WOW!!!! That's a whole new concept I had never considered!! I was focused on building something I could ride the bike up onto. I can visualize a way to use something like that while using the long arm of each post and having access to both sides of my baby. This may be the answer. I'll fabricate my own but, it's the start of a great idea. Thanks. :cool2: If you ever travel to or through Central Kentucky, I owe ya one. :drink:

Get an Handy Industries type that ericm suggested or something like this Blue Giant - Blue Giant In-Plant Lift Products. As they say 'don't reinvent the wheel'. I found an old Blue Giant lift with the hydraulic power pack for $300 years ago and its the best part of my shop .I built a 4x8ft frame and put a sheet of steel on it for and use it as a variable height work bench. I was going to cut it into the floor and have the top flush when not in use but never did. Put 4 heavy duty swivel casters on it. Warning. Mine becomes a junk collector on a weekly basis. Also have a small fork lift but take up more room.

Yeah, I had one similar to that. It was an HF air over hydraulic lift table.

Was too heavy to be moving around, couldn't just lift up one end and store it against the wall, it took up too much valuable floor space and also became a place for all those things I should have put up when I was finished with it (what ever it was). Appreciate the suggestion but, been there, done that. Just not what I want or have room for. But, I do seriously do appreciate the response. Thanks.
