Here's a drawing from JD parts for my JD790. It's a hook connected to a bracket (items 1 & 3)

I use a heavy duty bungee cord stretched between the two lift arms, where the lift links attach at the top, it ain't perfect but beats letting it dangle.

My L3130 has a kinda cheesy hook. After adding an HTL I use a rubber strap to hold it up.

On my old ford 8n, there wasn't anything.. I just use a rubber bungy cord.

On my Nh 1920, there is a rod with a hook on it coming out roughly directly behind the seat.. the toplink 'clicks' into there when not in use.

I need to build a new top link holder for my TC30. I added a toolbox to my tractor and its location makes the top link holder unuseable. I need to extend it or mount it in a different location.

In the attached photo you can see the test fitting of the box and the top link holder is the wire rod you can see just below the toolbox. (yes, the brackets got cut down to size)

I've seen an S-shaped piece on Deeres that is there just for that purpose. the base of the S is attached to the tractor horizontally so that it can pivot down when not in use. When the S is pivoted so that it's parallel to the ground the top link hooks into the outer loop of the S. That opening is designed so that the link is held there until intentionally removed. It's simple and effective like most good designs.
