Why do you need railway ties, and isn't there a pile somewhere near you that you can take from? There are two piles near me containing thousands of ties, one of which is in a fenced yard that I have a key for. :D

Care to donate a few? hehe could always use more ties and I will be up in The Pas next thursday. :)

My wife and I built a house in 2005 using a geothermal energy source (trenched, not well). Your comment about free AC caught my eye. Kansas is brutal hot in the summer, and while the geothermal energy source is efficient, it's hardly free AC. Our summer electric bills are big. I think you'll be disappointed if you think the geothermal is a summer freebe . . . of course in Montana, may be AC is not a big deal.

Well obviously in Manitoba, Canada it is quite a bit cooler then Kansas, also we are going with 8, 300ft wells and I was told the cooling in our house (2x6 construction, 2" of exterior sytrofoam) would be more then sufficient if the windows aren't left open for extended periods of time during the warm summer months. As well we have engineered the roof line to adapt to the sun during different parts of the year... keep the sunlight out in the summer, allow sunlight in the winter. Everything looks 100% on paper , but I will post actual results when we are living in the house :)

How many are you looking for?

No one has been there all winter so there is a little bit of snow in the way, but I think I can get it opened up enough for a truck ..... or is it a truck and trailer?

Oh well if your offering I have a 24ft bumper hitch trailer. Any chance that they would still be around in the spring? I would be more then willing to drive up there with the truck and trailer to grab a few, and toss you a case of beer for the trouble. I don't really need them until the ground is thawed enough to dig em in.

I will be up in The Pas next week for 2 days on business, what is a decent hotel?

The ties will still be there come spring time. If you want to wait then it is even easier for both of us. You can keep the case of beer though - someone did that last summer and I still have about 8 or 9 cans left. Just keep this thread going and post pics of those ties when you get to using them. :D

Almost forgot about the hotels.

Super 8 (623-1888) and the Kikiwak Inn (623-1800) are the two better ones. The Trappers Festival crowd should be gone by next week so you should be able to find a room. Book sooner rather than later just in case there is another function next week.

The snow is starting to melt pretty good now and the path to the ties should be wide open in a couple/few more weeks.

Give me a heads up before you plan on coming up here so that I can make sure that I am around to let you through the gate (lol ... like I ever go anywhere :D).

Hey I just seen this post now, thanks! I should be back up north in a couple of weeks for work so I wouldnt mind hauling my trailer up and picking up a decent sized load. I dont suppose I could talk you into loading some with your tractor because I will be by myself which makes it difficult to move more then 1 tie at a time. Anyway let me know! Thanks again.

So lately we have been having a bit of a water issue in front of the house, which causes problems for deliveries and just general access. Some pics of us trying to use the 9030 to move some water down my 'ditches' beside my 400m driveway. My ditches didnt really move much water until we opened them up with the tractor even then it was minimal because of the distance the water had to travel to hit the main ditch.

The 9030 opening up the entry into the ditch that runs accross our entire yard site

Looking down to the river from the living room window. It is decently dry down there because the river takes most of the water away. All the snow has since gone.

The mess I am left with until it dries up enough to disc the front yard.

Here is the living room as of recently, however we cleaned up and are starting to prime the walls. The rest of the house is coming together really well too..

My tractor is in pieces in my garage right now and I won't be putting it back together until the weather warms up enough for me to paint it. It doesn't have a grapple anyway.

I cannot think of an available machine that can load ties so you may be hand-bombing them onto your trailer. I will keep my eyes open though and if I think of anything I will let you know.

Also, I will PM you my contact info so you can get a hold of me when you are coming up.
