Bulldozer and 3/4 ton truck

Take a look at Mitsubishi, Komatsu, John Deere 350, Case 310 and 350. These are all good machines as long as they are not totally warn out. I have less than 10K in my 310 Case. It is a great little machine, and they all have their place.

Nice machine! :D Doesn't look like it even gets dirty when working...:)

I went through the same thing a few years back...

My local dealer had one left and he was quite honest about it... he told me then that they did 90% of the things correct... the problems he was dealing with were mostly due to soft steel and poor heat treated or hardened components where needed...

I ended up buying a Cat D3 and it's done everything and more that I need except can't move it with anything I own...

I know the OP was asking about transport and not the dozer but I have to sort of agree with some of the other posters here.

"I just can't see where something that light would do much of anything but finish grade loose dirt. It would sure surprise me if it will take out a 12" tree..."

One thing that gives me more heebie-jeebies than Chinese tractors are these little Chinese mini-dozers. They are so light and their construction is so iffy by reputation that I couldn't spend any money on them. Granted, all second/third-hand info but rarely do I hear glowing remarks about the little Yuchais and more often mild-severe consternation over them.

As above, a 12" tree would be a good enough little job for the garden variety 450/D-3/D-31 if it had any kind of root system/ball.........shed half the horsepower and almost the same percentage in weight using one of the little ChiCom dozers and I'm packing a lunch.

I've often thought a good 50-60hp with FWA, FEL, and rear box/grader blade might actually accomplish more real work while weighing less than one of these mini-dozers. As well, a good similar size skid steer could do a lot of damage.

As for hauling it around on a gooseneck with a 3/4 ton...........I don't see a problem with that assuming breaks, lights, tires, and wiring is good and you get it lashed down well for the ride.

I personally would steer clear of the Chinese dozer and look at something along the lines of a Case 450. The 450 weighs around 11-12k. 12" trees can be hard on a small dozer depending on what type of tree it is. Something like a Cat D3/Case 450 will give you a fighting chance against larger trees... a 7,000 pound dozer probably won't produce the results you want.

One question that comes to mind is...how long do you plan on keeping it?
Could make a difference if you're going to use it/sell it, or keep it to have around indefinitely. I started looking for a dozer last year to work my new property, and started with the northern dozer. Looked OK, but I decided against it, mostly due to weight (6600). I got real serious about the Komatsu's, they make a good product, and a good range of sizes, starting around 9,000lb. There's a lot of em out there, and parts/dealers are abundant. Lots of parts on Ebay as well.
I wanted a CAT, but they start with the D-3 (unless you get the much older d-2's) and the prices were up there. I ended up with a Komatsu D-38, an 18K machine and have been very pleased/impressed with it. It has the joystick controls which are very easy to use, and spoil ya....all the newer machines have em.
One thing about a dozer, perhaps the same is true about tractors, you hardly ever wish you had a smaller one!
If you plan on keeping it, I would look at the D-20/21, or perhaps a JD 350, Case or similar machine. I think you can yank that size behind your 250.
Buy, work, and sell, you might get away with a smaller machine.
Good luck and enjoy the seat time on whatever you get!

You might want to consider renting a small excavator to actually dig out the stumps. Probably a big time saver along with doing less damage to the ground.

Sweet lookin' Dressta/Kommie, scout. Not to mention the Super Duty and trailer;)

Just to summarize, "mini-dozers" seldom pan out for obvious reasons. A machine that looks like a Cat, but, is one third the size or weight or power of that CAT, is likely to offer about 1/3 the ability of that Cat. As Einstein equated.............E=MC2

His rules of the universe have not been disproven by cheap Chinese metal or fantastical financing.............yet.

Your Case looks awesome!! Nice job on the restoration.

I had a Case 310 with a loader on it and they are tuff little machines. I wouldn't dare go any smaller to take out 12" trees. It weighed around 11,000 lbs.
