I am curious if anyone on this site has purchased bullhog implement and used it?? When I saw one at Dixie Deer Classic in Raleigh, NC I found it fantastic and went on to inquired about it to a local salesperson. I learned that it has a fallback because unlike other implements, it will work only with the make/model you purchased it to work with. Should your tractor get busted or die on you due to age, it will not be able to work with other tractor so I didn't like the idea of buying it with that kind of risk. If it was the type you could transfer to other tractor based on HP (a 20HP tractor can't carry large disc plow or engine will burn up) then I would have bought it...

But I am just curious if anyone on this site has one for the tractor?? I just want to know how you liked it and if it is a thumb up or thumb down?

Fecon Incorporated - Bullhog Brush Cutters - Overview

Is this what you are talking about? I'm not sure it goes on a tractor... they are BIG!! I missed the Dixie Deer Classic this year :(

Yup, that is the one I was referring to! I spoke with local salesperson about it few months back and they carry front end for all kind of machines from Tigercat to Skid-Steer. They make it for tractor and excavator too. If you watch the "overview" video, you will see that they offer PTO drive with hydraulic for the tractor as well.

The thing about getting it for tractor is that it is built specifically for the one you own meaning if it dies on you then you would have to buy exactly same make/model to use it. I didn't ask if I could get same make/model with different year.

But if you buy it for Skid-Steer or other machine then it is transferrable to different make/model as long as it meet certain HP and GPM rating.

What kind of tractor are you planning to put this on? Hopefully it's a Cat.3 - which is much bigger and longer lived tractors. If the tractor breaks that the BullHog is on... I would just get it repaired/fixed. If it breaks a lot, then maybe this machine wasn't meant to handle it (or you are shredding too fast.) Have you check into the price?

This is just a random thought but... rarely does a tractor die completely - it might not be worth it to repair it sometimes...

I will be honest that I do not completely know tractor as I just bought my first tractor from my uncle for half the price of what it is worth because my uncle bought few huge tractors from my other uncle that just passed away. I bought Massey Ferguson 240 with 40HP because my dad knows it is strong enough for me to use to get the job done with my campground business so I wouldn't know if it is a Cat 3 or so? I would assume it is probably in Cat 2??

The machine is designed to grind just about anything in its path and will not stop up like tiller or bushhog would, but this is because the machine is designed to work with the specs of your tractor. The salesperson said that as long as it is 40+HP then the machine will work. Unfortunately, the asking price for machine to work with tractor is $28,000!

Salesperson said that I can buy the machine that works with Skid Steer for a lot less at $22,000-$26,000 depending on the size as there are 3 different sizes for Skid Steer, and it is transferrable to any make/model Skid Steer as long as S.S. is 75+HP and has a minimum of 30 Gallon Per Min Hydraulic Pump.

So that is why I was checking if anyone on this forum might have one but apparently or most likely the answer is no? In my opinion, best money invested might be buying a used S.S. and then this machine. If it doesn't work out with land clearing business then I can always sell it to other lot clearing company.

Wow, for that much money, I can see why you are looking into it. Try talking to the Salesperson again and see if they can give you the name of someone who has bought a unit for a tractor (I assume they don't have one you can "try out" - that would be fun ;))

For that price I hope it comes with a steel cage around the driver's area :) Take care, Sorry I can't help ya...
