Re: We want pictures!-Bobcat Stuck

Harv, I can see the headlines now.

"Rogue mud slide erupts in foot hills east of San Francisco" Authorities suspect foul plan and are searching for a suspect called "Harv" who was last seen towing a sign behind his tractor. "He's always rumbling around up in those hills with that tractor", said a neighbor who requested anonymity. "I knew he was up to no good". "Harv" was seen speeding from the scene of the mud slide in his tractor just moments after the massive slide began. Authorities are also investigating a series of unapproved culverts recently constructed at the epicenter of the slide. "Looks like massive water build-up in the culverts and movement triggered by the weight of "Harv's" tractor caused this terrible mud slide", said county engineer Joe Wrangle.

Re: We want pictures!-Bobcat+loader Stuck

Harv, 42 years I hitchhicked from Detroit to Kingsville TX and a guy picked me up in Marion IN and drove to Houston TX pulling one used car behind another with a tow bar. He was 1/4 apache and 3/4 bulls**t and entertained me the whole trip. When WW ll broke out he was drafted into a gunnery school ,ran out of a small airfield that the Army Aircorp scrounged up. He begged the ole guy that flew the plane to teach him how to parachute. The ole guy kept putting him off til finally he said, You know, I don't see the point of practicing something you got to do right the first time".

Here is a picture that will really make you think about going into the woods without a nice lid over your head.

Holy Crap, Gordon! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

If the operator of that thing survived (and it looks like he may have), you can bet the seat is going to need a good hosing off, too. /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Gordon,

Here is the solution to all these problems. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m88a1e1.htm

Be carefull. Its only rated to 35 tons. But what can you expect from ~1000 hp and 70 tons./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I bet somebody has even managed to get one of these stuck!

Re:Skidder rops test

I could see this with a 18' bat wing mower on it and any thing else for that matters. I'd be a little concerned about the .7 miles per gallon thou. And thats at 16 mph. It's easy to see why you wouldn't worry about the fuel milage in Kuwaitt. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Maybe its not a world record, but I'll hereby claim the TBN record: buried twice in one day.

Just got my new bridge built and went over the creek to brush hog the jungle swamp all weekend. Buried the tractor in the cattails about 1:30. Hopeless. Tow truck time. $80.

So now I'm going to chip away at the edges of the cattail morass instead of driving through. At 6:30, almost through, I get buried again, 30' from where I got stuck the first time. Just left the tractor there and came home. I think I hate my land.

I also hate my R4 tires. I will NEVER get them again. They leave tracks on my soft soil and are completely useless in mud. One spin and the are loaded up with mud like a slick. A turf tire would be no worse in the mud and would be much better on the lawn and soft soil. R4's were developed for loader and backhoe work on dry construction sites that are strewn with nails. That's where they should stay. Its either turfs or ags for me next time.

The second burial is in somehat drier muck and is only down to the axles so far. I'll try shovels and boards when I have time.
