So I've tried ULSD in kerosene lamps, works fine, just wondering, since it is cheaper, how it will do in a kerosene heater.

When I buy kerosene there is a warning label on it saying it is high in sulfur.

I'm thinking that ULSD might be even "purer" than the kerosene and burn cleaner but I want to ask experts if there's anything I'm missing.

I always use ULSD in my kerosene heater. I was working in my garage which is in my basement. I ran out of diesel and ran to a local mart. They don't sell diesel but do have kerosene. After 10 minutes my wife asked what I was doing downstairs, she said I was stinking up the house. Never noticed it or had any complaints while using diesel. This is a fan forces space heater and is about 10 years old. Works great and is always ran with diesel.

50-50 mixture in standard wick type kerosene heater working perfect no smell for several hours...(there was no smell with all kerosene either).

I'd like to know how this works out for folks also. Especially now that I've got a 15 gallon drum with a 12 pump/14' hose and nozzle that I use to fill a Kubota B3030.
I guess that I'd just as soon have one fuel both tractor and Kerosun that I use every now and then in the garage.

NOPE!

Don't do it, even a 50-50 mixture of ULSD and kerosene caused a circular wick type heater to decrease output during the night and when I looked at the cooled down wick, it was encrusted with hard stuff which kerosene doesn't do or else takes way longer to do.

Kero is still a lighter fraction than #2 fuel oil. ULSD is still #2 while Kero can be called #1 fuel oil and is added to #2 in colder climates to slow/stop 'gelling'...

I used to work for the US office of a Canadian Motor Carrier and had a guy load in Panama City, FL and he fueled up there. 24 hours later near Thunder Bay, ON his tanks gelled solid, had to have him towed to a heated shop and after 24 hours & a few gal of HOWES conditioner they got him re-started enough to top him off w/ winterized fuel.

There is more wax, etc. in #2 than #1 and removing the sulfur does not change that.

You don't want to run kerosene in your tractor.

When kero heaters first came out it was hard to find fuel in out area so I used to go to the airport and pick up jet fuel. It worked great.
