Just ordered BH25 5' heavy duty cutter. Anyone own this cutter? Would like to hear your comments.

i paid for my BH27 Monday the dealer thought it was in because they dropped the invoice off with another delivery. It was really just notification that it was being shipped. Looks like they are very similar to the 290 series main difference is the tail wheel going from an A frame to rectangular tube steel. 290 series has been pretty good from what I've read.

The BH series is brand new i don't think there are many out there yet

Spoke with Bush Hog representative earlier this week. Was curious since dealer discouraged me from buying a 290 series. He said pars may be hard to get in the future. I asked Bush Hog representative what changes had been made since Alamo took over and he confirmed that they had changed vendor for their gear boxes. Also looked up part number for gear box and did a search to find that Rhino has the same 130hp gear box. Not the same as the 290 series 130hp gear box. Just hope as reliable as original Bush Hog models. Time will telll!

Mine came in today don't be surprised when you see manufacturing location of the gear box. looks like they have also taken some structure out of the 3point toplink attachment. They removed 4 gussets. Red is the 295 orange is BH27. Still looks well built though.

I asked the dealer what the big changes were he claims the bush hog rep said they've increased the strength of the BH27 over the 290 by moving some of the steel to higher yield strength steel

According to the parts manual The BH comes in two flavors china gear box BH2x-1R

And BH2x-2R which looks like it has the 290 camon Italian made gear box. Wish my dealer had told me this before i bought mine

I don't think you'll have any issues with the china gearbox. All the research I've done leads me to believe theyre as good or better than many of the European ones. I was a little disappointed when I found the Comer box on my Rhino cutter was Chinese but Its given me nothing to complain about.

So even Comer switched to China, disappointing. I agree i'm sure that it will be fine as long as they are built to the same standards.
