I think you've got a good point---the shaft is probably an easier fix at this point than the deck anyway. I keep working on removing the stump jumper.
I'm curious about the wax trick anyway so I guess I may try that in combination w/ the channel and c-clamp method and see what happens. Although----that big gear puller would sure look cool lying around my shop!
