Now you can buy $50 worth of shear pins, i ran one on another farm, they'd break if they thought there was a rock in the field & sometimes as soon as you turned the PTO on.
Once you get used to it, you can change one out in a minute or so.

That's odd I've ran shear bolt brush cutters for years and rarely broke the shear bolt.

I just bought a slip clutch off eBay for 60 bucks. It was an easy upgrade to get away from the shear pin setup I had. You may want to look into it.

Buy a slip clutch and keep on mowing. The shear pins gets old fast. Beside you got a very good deal on the cutter and even with a slip clutch added you are a head of the game.

I guess i depends on what you are doing, we went through them something fierce, but we cut quite a bit of brush and woods. I now use only cutters with a slip clutch.
