Bush hog connection

On my 2910 my toplink screw collar lenthens all the time when I am brushcutting and when snowplowing with the rear blade. It unwinds itself from the vibrations. The stop nut only prevents the toplink from shortening. Unless I'm supposed to have a stop nut on both ends of the screw collar.

Nope, it's supposed to work both ways; you just haven't been tightening it enough./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I've had the same thing happen when I just tightened it finger tight instead of putting the wrench on it./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Well, somethings screwed up, and I bet it's me. The stop nut is on the rear end of the screw collar. You mean if I tighten the nut with a wrench against the screw collar, it will prevent the collar from unwinding away from the nut? It'll be a while before I can try that out, but it sounds mysterious.

Yep, tighten it with a wrench; pretty snug, too, and it'll stay the same length.

Re: stop nut - I'll take a look when I get home.

I know that there's no nut towards the center of the top link, because when I'm turning it, I have
to look closely at the threads to tell if I'm tightening or loosening it and I've never seen a nut there.

It may be that it came with the nut all the way at the end and I've never noticed (or understood) that
this nut was to be moved around.

I always tighten my nut tight with a wrench and never had any problems. By the way when I hook up my 3pt tools, I hook the side arms first, lenghten the top link, connect and then adjust for proper length. Makes it easy to connect 3pt.
