Bush Hog for YM2000

I agree with a 4'. I use one on my 2000 and it works very good. The Tractor has no problem and easily handles it.

there are light duty 5ft ers that are not that heavy.

I've been using a pretty heavy 5' unit with my YM240D (same as the YM2000; only domestic rather than import I believe). My impression is the unit I've got is a bit heavy. I like the size because the BH covers the tractor's tracks. I've got less than 2 hours using it to clean up some trash in a pasture that doesn't have much in the way of grass at the moment- it's mostly multi-flora rose, some golden rod, or some small Hawthorne trees. The machine bogs down a bit on any incline, but I'm usually running in 6th gear since the grass is so light. It handles it okay, but I think I'd be more relaxed with a lighter or small BH.

Yea Wolly that is a HEAVY 5fter you have. I can mow almost the thickest stuff in 6th gear and in light grass can mow in 7th even up slight slopes. But also consider you have a loader thats hundreds of pounds more weight than i have on my ym2000 (and yea your right, paint, internal over run clutch and the direction the throttle goes is the only difference)

You're right about mine being heavy. I'm afraid what would happen to the front end if I DIDN'T have the loader!

I think a lighter 5' or heavy-ish 4' would be a good fit. I still don't have mine setup correctly. I did move the lift-pins on the front down a couple inches to the lowest provided mounting holes, but I think the rear of the BH is still too low. Since it's not my BH I don't want to do a lot of re-configuring. It does okay, I just need to be attentive and go slower than I would if I were running the 45HP machine that normally runs this BH. But that's no surprise.

I know that this does not really help you but....

I just wanted to show the pic of my bushhog. It is a very similar one to the one that woolyAcres has. It has no problem lifting it and the amount depends on the length of the top link.

One thing that I found interesting is the amount of additional weight the YM2001 has over the YM2000. According to the specs, it could be as much as 400-500 pounds. I shut off the engine with the bushhog raised in the pic and stood on top of the mower to see if it would raise the front end. I weigh a little over 200 pounds and I could stand on the back edge of the bushhog and the front wheels did not raise. I had to bounce a bit to get them to raise. I found this interesting. I guess this is why I have never had trouble steering with the bushhog in place.
