Does anyone know if the blades on this model are held on by reverse threaded(left handed) bolts?
It does not say so in the manual. I need to remove and sharpen them.

Thanks

Larry

I know for certain that Bush Hog ATH mower blade bolts are RH threads, I believe FTH are, too. Blade bolts ALWAYS loosen by turning the bolt or nut in the direction of blade rotation.

Thanks for the reply. I had a about 2.5 ft including my breaker bar (blade blocke with wood) and could barely budge one of them. I know my electric impact wrench would not budge them.
would you apply some heat?
Thanks

I use a 650lb air rachet, life is easy!

FTH720 uses blade bolt part #44506BH which is nothing more than a 1/2x1-3/4" fine thread grade 8 bolt. Right hand threads for certain. Heat the head to a dull red, let cool, and remove the bolt. Use new bolts and apply Never-Seize to the threads.

Get new bolts and then use the HOT wrench to cut the old ones off. When you break the socket or the break over or your hand the new bolts will be cheep.
