As I said in the picture the $64.00 question is how to set it.

tom

Slip clutch adjustment instructions are on page 29 of the manual (at least how to set for max torque).

I'd bet a dozen KrispyKremes that the slip clutch is the problem. Looking back again at the pix, particularly T5 and T7, along with the parts diagram from the manual, you can see that what appears to be the "pressure plate" (C) is not concentric with all the rest of the clutch parts. This suggests that something is not right with the clutch. There are also supposed to be two friction disks (D - unbonded friction facing) that are likely to be worn out. It looks like a tough old clutch, and the friction disks, and maybe other parts are probably still available through Rhino, but if it was my hog and I wanted it to work reliably, I'd look into having the clutch disassembled, inspected and repaired as needed. Sorry. And sorry about your kin too;-)

I agree with the rest..after looking at your latest pics that the input slip clutch is most likely the problem..HOWEVER...yes that was all in caps (trying to make a point)in the pictures of your slip clutch..I see no evidence of the clutch plates spinning..By that I mean there is no shiny spots on those offset plates or mating steel that I can see..all of the rust is still bonded to the same spots, as it most likely has been for year's..It very well could be that clutch, but I dont see any shiny ,rubbed metal like it has been spinning.Very interesting...keep us informed..

Okay Everyone: Thought we had it all solved on Saturday. Tightened up all of the various items according to the slip clutch adjustment page, well with my younger brothers help. Seemed to solve the problem, but when I actually got on it yesterday to mow, only one side was working. The side not working at all is the one I put the shear bolt in, and I noticed it now appears to be "not tightened". Thanks everyone. Not out of the woods yet, but I did get some mowing done with that one side !

Well, glad to hear progress was made. With a little more tuning I am sure it will be fully operational.
Keep us posted

Sounds like you may have sheared the bolt again. IF so, you need to investigate why that side is hard to start turning

Glad your brother finally helped out!
