Rear Blade Bush hog or King Kutter rear blade

while back I found a tow behind grader. Was perfect thing for leveling a driveway. It was a commercial built unit but appeared to be nothing more than a old boat trailer with an adjustable scraper blade in the middle. The tires were in the very back and had adjustable height. From the way I understand why a grader is better at leveling than a 3pt scraper blade it the wheel distance. As your tractor rises and falls over hills so does the scraper blade. This tends to dig in first as the front tires go up and then the blade comes off the ground(or almost if in float position) as the back tires go over hill. With a grader the blade stays level as the tractor clears the hill early and the grader back tire never get to the hill since the blade leveled it. Still looking for a picture and will update if I find one.

I inherited a Super Rhino 8 foot blade from my dad. It weighs 760# and is rated for a 120 HP tractor. With it and my Taylor Way 7' box blade driveway maintenance is very manageable. I last used the Rhino to scrape snow and cut a ditch. Just have to be judicious in the draft control.

My only advise is to get the heaviest implement you can afford regardless of brand. Everything Attachments a sponsor makes excellent blades, box blades, and land planes to meet your needs.

A couple other blades to research are Land Pride and Everything Attachments. They both make some heavier blades and some can be offset.

The ETA 6 way Deluxe Scraper Blade ($820) may be the best/most cost effective choice for tractors under 50HP.
I ordered one a few days ago.

Thanks for all the comments, I do appreciate them. I decided on the Bush Hog 7008 mainly because of the offset capability and also because our local dealer has them in stock. It is also good to support the local economy when you can. Everything Attachments has the King Kutter blade HD-RB-96 I was looking at. It looks like a great blade but I think the offset will be more important to my application. Airbuscuit's idea of a tail wheel would be very helpful for the ups and downs. Also the picture of the old grader he posted with the axle and two wheels is intriguing. Well it is off to the scrap yard for another adventure. Perhaps a front axle from a riding mower, who knows what lurks at the scrap yard!

Congratulations! Here's a good price if you need this component.

I will tell you of the maintenance of my mile long gravel driveway. For thirty years I used a rear blade to "DO" my driveway. In the winter it would do wonders at removing snow. In the summer it was as "**** on bacon" as far as doing any real maintenance. My "gravel" driveway - over the years - is now a surface of crushed basalt, sand and volcanic ash. It will "set up" as it dries in the summer and becomes the equal of concrete. Even my Land Pride RB3596 @ 560# would not cut the surface after it dried. It was most inconvenient to attempt to do all the maintenance in the short time when the driveway was still damp.

I needed more BEEF. I stepped up to a Rhino 950 @ 1050# & 96" wide. What a remarkable difference. I also added a FitRite hydraulic top link to the mix. Now I can reach out and clean and maintain the driveway ditches, repair potholes and do general maintenance, with ease. Weight is your friend with a rear blade.
