Bush Hog Proof Lights

After much effort I hope that I can now post what I did to mount lights that would not be in the way or to get busted off by trees and branches . I have a JD990, but this will work for any tractor with a ROP and can be fitted to mount with a canopy.
Before this last jump in scrape steel I went to the local steel shop and got a scrape piece of steel tube that was big enough to mount a set of Driving lights in , I cut it so I had enought to make two sets of mounts , 4"x5"x6" . I drilled two holes that matched the canopy mounting holes on the ROP, one hole to run the wires for the light , and one one hole on the top to mount the light inside of the tube . I painted them to match the tractor color , the mounted them using 12mm bolts . the wiring I run down the inside of the ROP and back up under the seat to the main wire harness were I back wired to the fuse block , making sure to have conectors at the split point just like the factory harness for that possible need for service . I rrun the lights through the factory switch , time will tell if I will need to replace this and up grade to a relay system for the lights .

OMG! You've been hangin around with Henro, and drilled your ROPS didn't you! Seriously, that looks like a good arrangement. The only problem will come if the tractor turns over, one will probably be a little mashed, but that's not terrible. Looks like it will give really good protection in those woods. Good work. John

While my opinion is completely unsolicited, with that style of ROPS with the 90 deg. corners, I prolly woulda put them on the inside corner ...

Lost my home PC' , but No ROP was drilled for this install ... the JD990 has pre-drilled and threaded 12mm hole for the install of canopies or cabs ..... ..

Donw boy...Down! You needn't defend what was a nice install. My opinion, nothing to do with rolling the machine, was based on the fact that I can pretty much guarantee on my land that those light would take a beatin bein on the outside of the ROP ... thaz all.

Perhaps this thread should have been titled:

"NO ROPS HAVE BEEN HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS THREAD" ... or sumpin.

Nice, it gives me some ideas, like using driving lights for a car or maybe even using tractor utility lights with a togleswitch on them.
