Unless you are young, working 2 jobs just to feed 3 kids,a cat,2 dogs and keep a roof over them. Well,you might also be like me,can afford a new shaft but are old,bull-headed and refuse letting a shaft get the best of you even if it make's you look silly.

strap or secure the mowing deck to a tree or something then run a strap through the end of the shaft to your tractor and pull forward.

Well got back at it today with the same result. No budge!
Here are some pics.

This is to show how I was doing it. The chain around the tree, with 2x lumber to protect the tree. The end wrapped around the yokes and the other end is to my truck. I put the truck in 4wd and revved to almost 1800 rpm, and did not budge.
We are taking a short road trip and when we get back, I will give it one more try. If that dies not work, I will try to get the shear pin out. Have not tried hard but light taps with a 3lb hammer do nothing

Back to an earlier unanswered question, with it frozen like this how do I know which length to get?

With my luck, I'd get it busted loose but damage it just enough so that it would later cause the PTO shaft on the tractor to fail....

You can get an approximate measurement if you hitch it up to your 3 point - let the shaft rest on the ground and measure. Buy longer than you need and cut to fit. Do a search on YouTube for "cutting a PTO driveline".

Good setup
Get a friend to hold another hammer against the shaft while you hit opposite side all up and down the telescoped overlap. If theyre different, use the larger hammer as the reaction mass. It would be better to strike a piece of steel rather than the actual shaft. You dont want to dent it but get flex of one portion around the other. It may move very slightly at first, but once it moves you know youve got it. Watch tension force youre applying. Huge tension applied even a little off center has a component that tries to bend it. - - If you were on center you could jerk a little.
