How much do tines typically cost?

The tiller will be used at the beginning of each planting season to till up about 1/2-1 acre for our garden

I don't buy cheep chit, why? Because it's cheep chit!!

I like stuff that last, and so I buy good tines, about 10 to 11 ea., haven't bought any in a while...cuz they LAST!! lol

That right there is a FACT!!

And now he will use "cheapo" bolts or reuse old bolts and then be back asking why he is having so many "tine problems"!!

And, usually being a tightwad cost you more in the end!

When I needed new tines for my Howard HR-8 ( 36 tines ) I did a search on ebay and found someone selling replacement sets. Mine was the same machine as a JD 660. Jd wanted almost 700 for a set, this guy delivered the same thing for less than $300 with the freight. Same manufacture that both Howard and Jd subs the job to, same good quality part. I didn't find that being cheap on my part was a problem, it was the same part in fact. Just how much you wanted to spend on the same part. I'd look for that same part on ebay, give them a call, I bet they have or can get parts for yours. By the new bolt sets, well worth not having the problems, and not that expensive.

I also had the same situation when I bought my used Kubota 5' tiller years ago - it has 36 tines. Kubota tines were going to be more than the $600 I paid for the tiller. My local Co-op found some for about $250 for a set and they have held-up very well. For several years I tilled a couple acres with it and now only my 30x50 garden twice a year and they look like they will outlast me !! Kubota doesn't manufacture their own tines, just stick their NAME to them and charge twice the price.

I did look at those tines before I bought, Rick. I didn't get out the measuring tape to gauge wear, but they appeared to be in good shape. That is, until, I went to till with it and it would only till about 2 inches deep.....yikes

You are just a tightwad... BUT, that may be OK, depending on how much you plan to use this tiller...

Sawyer, it will be used at the beginning of every garden season to till about 1/2-1 acre plot. New tines should last me the rest of my life as I don't have a lot of rocks in the soil where I live....

The tine on the right is worn out. the other two are good for a few more acres.
