Re: Bush Hoggin\' in the DARK?

What exactly do you have lurking on your property that you'd need the .44 mag for?

Some good eating bucks during November, December, and January as well as hungary bull gator during June, July, and August! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Bush Hoggin\' in the DARK?

Sometimes, I will be doing something at one of my neighbor's (5 mikes away) and be there until dark or thereafter. I have to drive my tractor down the road and it's different at night for sure. Good thing is that the warning lamps show up really nice after dark.
Back on my family's farm, most of the tractors' headlights were busted out so when darkness fell, you were done. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Bush Hoggin\' in the DARK?

Ah, that makes sense. Boy, hunting from a tractor is a new one on me - sounds like a good idea. You kill a deer or gator, drive the tractor up, load the now deceased animal into the FEL and drive it on home. Simple, smart and you didn't even have to get your feet wet. I guess that once you got home you could even hang the animal from the FEL and gut it.

My cousins would be jealous. It seems like all of their hunting stories involve dragging a dead deer miles and miles by hand just to reach the four wheeler and then driving more miles back to the truck and then more miles back home.

Clint.

( We've shot two rattlers just this month...... Two Bobcats live on the edge of our property and have eaten many of our large geese, as well as numerous raccon, possum and fox attacks on the hen house. )

I'm fairly certain this was a rattler.. but I didn't crawl down to check /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Head looked like it.

We've had fox/raccoon/possum/coyote problems. I had to build the heck out of the chicken and turkey pens.

Earlier this year I had a small flock of chickens taken.. pluss a few turkey. Also had my egg baskets cleaned out a few times.. so i know that was a raccoon.

I had to break down and cut my grass in the dark the other day after a 70 hour work week. Even though it looked good that night, it didn't look too good the next day! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Bush Hoggin\' in the DARK?

Frank,

I think you said it pretty good. If you know the area and have mowed it before a few times I guess it is ok. I would hate to see somone on a hill and hit a hole and tip the tractor over. Or even run over something.

Andy, thanks for the tribute to a great comedian, Rodney Dangerfield. For the time when Andy changes the picture, it's the one under his name on the left. Right now, it's the late great R.D. John
