So you remove just your bucket and keep your loader arms in what position?

Yeah

If you are happy the field is clear and the bucket is easy to take off (yours is it is a a quick detatch) then just take it off.

You can leave the laoder on of course, some will say leave it low for stability, others will say leave it high.

I just put it where it is most appropriate. Normally somewhere in the middle of its travel.

If the field is hilly then it is better to have it lower.

Thanks Grrrr! The Mahindra dealer is delivering my new 4530 this afternoon and I did get the skid-steer attachment on the FEL. I'll take your advice and drop the bucket because I do know the land.
Thanks again,
Perry

If I have mowed the area before, then I will remove the loader. Lots easier IMO. But if mowing unfamiliar ground, then I mow with the rear of the bucket a few inches above the ground with the front lip curled up some. Bucket doesn't dig into anything, yet still knocks stuff down.

That's how I feel about it too. If you a nice maintained feild or pasture with little to no obstacles or unknowns, I'd probably take the bucket off. My pasture still needs a lot of work and I'm constantly having to deal with small mesquite trees, thorn bushes, etc that grow quick, especially with all the rain we had this year. I use the FEL to pull up those bushes and small trees so I don't have to run over them and risk puncturing a tire. After finishing bush hogging, I'll go pick up the bushes and trees and take it to a burn pile. The bucket also helps to keep a lot of the debris off the front screen as well.

Ya know I was just thinking. With the bucket on it also helps with picking up the rocks that you will find. Usually after hitting one, then changing the shear pin, I just pick up the culprit and toss it into the bucket.

That too, although I don't have a shear pin. I have a slip clutch on my shredder.

Hello everyone! Yesterday I said my new 4530 will be delivered Friday. I also said that I'd probably have some "how-to" questions seeing as I've never had a FEL before. My 4530 has the skid steer option for quick removal. As stupid as it seems, here is my question. After delivery, I have 15 acres to bush hog. Do most of you bush hog with the loader bucket on or off? Thanks in advance for any input!

I just finished doing about 4 acres of waist high field with the bucket on and positioned low. I thought that it would push down some of the heavier briars and make it a little easier on the tractor underside. WHen I finished I noticed the bucket was half filled with various seed from the field. As a side benefit of keeping the bucket on I think it reduces the amount of chaff that impacts the air intake screen. So it should keep the radiator a bit cleaner

Thanks for your input indianaEPH! It seems that it would shield from some of the debris.
