We have a 5.5 Taylor Way (?) came w/Kubota 2950. mowed great first two years...then this summer when you went over rough ground, the blades would whack the underside of the deck...finally, it got to where they whack it basically every few seconds..smooth or rough ground...I checked underneath, and redid the blades, bought new ones, as though they were bent...but now it looks like the bolt/pin that comes thru the gearbox and attaches to the stump jumper is BENT...now what? and why? how? we don't have along of big rocks here, nor are we careless on our pasture of 35 acres...any ideas? thanks!

I suggest that you have something very loose and/or bent. I'd say raise it up on the 3PH, then block it up safely, crawl under it with a flashlight and gloves to see what you can see.

The gearbox mount could be lose/broken. The bearings could be out of the gearbox. The hub attachment could be bent or loose.

If you can't tell from this way, I'd stand it up on end to get a better look......

My two cents.

ok, will do, but from what I could see with flashlight and poking around, that bolt thru the gearbox is bent. looks like ajob and half to change it out and I ain't no mechanic. anyone ever done this or had to? cannot figure out how it happened. no one else uses the thing and I would have thought had I hit somethingTHAT hard I would have known it! and this is a pretty good hog, they say it's a medium duty...my tractor is only 30 hp ...

When you say bolt thru the gearbox , are you talking about the vertical shaft from the gear box that the stump jumper attaches to? If that is bent, then it sounds like you will at least need to buy a new shaft and probably seals and rebuild the gearbox. That's if you can buy those parts separately. May have to buy a new gear box.
Here is a link to their home page. It did not fully open for me. But it did have a link to e-mail them. Click on the mail box.

well, I guess I don't know what I mean..since I don't know if it's a shaft or a bolt. but I will hoist the thing up and check again, and will contact Taylor on Monday. cann't thank you enough...it's terrible being so mechanically challanged! but I am determined to solve the problem without hauling it off to some dealer....
