\"BushHog\"Chipper?

Anyone seen one of these. I saw one today at a old gentleman's farm. It looked almost new (in the bard with dust on it though), but I can't located them on the Bush Hog website. Seems to me it was a model BH100P?? P must stand for PTO. ....Any comments or knowledge on this? Bobg in VA

Bob, I have one of those. It also collects dust a lot, but I get it out once or twice a year and it works well for me. BushHog quit selling/supporting that chipper about two years ago. It was made for BushHog by Goossen and I've put a link to their website. I believe the correct BushHog number is CS100P. At least that's the number on mine.

jinman: That's the number alrite. Was wondering if it's worthwhile. How big of a limb/sappling will it take and,, oh, yeah, how much $$$ was it (if you don't mind). Appreciate the response. BobG in VA

The brush shredder portion of it is terrific. It will take up to 1-1/4" brush and instantly shred it. As a matter of fact, you have to be careful it doesn't jerk it out of your hand.

The chipper can take up to 4" stuff pretty easy. I've chipped some oak, but it works a lot better on softer woods like fresh cut cedar. With sharp blades, it does an excellent job for a manual feed system.

I bought mine used about 6 years ago (or more). It was hardly used. My tractor dealer sold it to me for $2395. It came with the blower too, so the original price was close to $3000. Had I known that Bush Hog was dropping that line, I probably would not have paid nearly that much. I think $1500 would be a fair price today.

I wish you were closer, I'd be happy to demo my unit. If you get it, plan on wearing ear protection for sure. It's very loud (roar of the drum spinning).

I've got one, too. I rented some big, heavy, expensive chippers before the purchase and though this is a bit more work, I get the job done just as fast or faster. I got mine on eBay a few months ago for around $1500.

I think it is one of the best 3pt chippers you can buy.

By the way, thought I should mention that Goossen has been wonderful about providing customer service for a second hand owner of a machine they private labeled for another company. They sent me an owner's manual at no charge and found me a dealer for blades and parts.
