I am looking at getting a light duty 5' bushhog for mowing, and the 2 options in my price range are a Howse ($675 + tax) and a LMC ($625 tax included). Both appear similar in quality but the LMC is approx $115 cheaper. I have not heard much about this brand and do not know if parts and blades are readily available. The LMC mower I found is from a guy who sells tractor implements on the side from home and he does not offer spare parts. The Howse mower is from a dealership. Anyone with experience with either brand?

Thanks

The only "LMC" I know of is the Long Manufacturing Company of North Carolina so I'm not sure of this company you mention. I don't believe that Long produces its ow rotary cutters today, but, I could have missed something.

Howse? They are a stand alone company who builds a variety of equipment from the "light" to "heavy" duty segments. I have a Howse 5' shredder and find it very good for it's money. It's a supreme buy for cutting pasture grass and the variable growth up to 1-2" diameter or so but don't expect to go out and hammer down the back forty full of mesquites, cedars, or pines, or rocks with it. They and other companys make harder units for these jobs.

Dealing with Howse, I find that when I need a part I can just get it via their website and have it delivered within a week or less time.

Go with the Howse and have the extra knowledge of both dealer and website support.

This particular "LMC" is Lowry (Lowery-Lowrey?) Manufacturing Company, I believe from Alabama. I had a box blade of theirs a few years back. Decent "generic" design, very simular to King Kutter design/quality. They used commonly available "generic" components. I bought it at a shortline dealer that was closing their doors. (auction) Parts from TSC that were intended for KK stuff were identical. I'd bet the ranch their mowers follow the same lines.

I have read some about the LMC. Here is a local place that sells them and has a link to them. Boazlawnandgarden.com JC
